Useful Context

"The budget is the most important economic instrument of government, as it reflects the country's socioeconomic policy priorities by translating priorities and political commitments into expenditures."

Following the tabling of last year's Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement, on 1 November 2023, the committees of Parliament (Appropriations and Finance) conducted public hearings with relevant stakeholders. Submissions were also received from the stakeholders during the public hearings. Thereafter, the committees prepared a report and tabled it in the National Assembly. (Report of the Standing Committee on Appropriations on the 2023 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement, Dated 5 December 2023)
